Anyone know how to get user profiles to work with FBA and a aspnetSQLMembershipProvider? I can connect via a bdc entry I created, but cannot import the members into the WSS profile list via my bdc.

Heres a thread on the MSDN NG:

The blog link I posted mainly deals with getting mysites and personalisation features to work with FBA. As far as user profiles go, you can only import windows users.
I dont think the BDC is going to help you a great deal here. The BDC can be used with user profiles to supplement windows account info with user details stored in another location. It can't actually be used to import entire users.
I think the best approach for you is to write some custom code (in a console app) to programmatically import each user. You could create a timer job and schedule it to run each night.

ZT,

I read through the post and tweaked my installation which now allows me to add user profiles (it was erroring out before because the SSP was not properly configured to see the ASPSQLMembershipProvider. The profiles still do not appear to be mapped correctly to the corresponding authorized user. I have a case opened with microsoft...

Thats great, I honestly didnt think that was possible. I dont believe it will be a microsoft supported scenario based on comments from Dan Attis. I will attempt to set this up next chance I get and see if I can get the profiles mapped to the users.
Thanks for the info
