Sharepoint authentication

How exactly did you "tell" sharepoint the credentials entered were valid? Did you authenticate against AD and then use the sharepoint SDK to pass those credentials in? I have a custom login page I created that authenticates successfully in the code behind and then try to redirect to default.aspx in sharepoint. It keeps redirecting me back to the default login specified in the web.config (_layouts/login.aspx). I guess I am looking for that chunk of code...or a point in the right direction. This is an excellent feature but it won't help me out of the box. Thanks in advance

Not sure what you are asking. This webpart is for use with forms authentication providers. It uses whatever authentication provider that you configured in MOSS for that site. It may not fit your situation exactly but it has some good info.
